Black Sands Brewery
This brewery is built on the philosophy that beer is for sharing. Not just the final product, but the entire process of making it. You can watch the brewers over at Black Sands make beer, taste it fresh right out of their fermenters, see the recipe, and leave with everything to make it yourself. The space is designed and planned so that everything is transparent, from beer to recipes to food. The kitchen, like their brewery, is completely open. You can sit right up front to the open kitchen and watch your meal being made. And of course, only served California inspired dishes that pair perfectly with the house made beer. // 701 Haight St, Haight Ashbury, blacksandsbeer.com
Anchor Steam
One of SF’s more classic breweries, Anchor is America’s first and oldest craft brewery, with roots dating back to the California gold rush. Today, their beers are handmade from an all-malt mash in our traditional copper brewhouse. The process combines the time-honored art of classical craft brewing with carefully applied, state-of-the-art modern methods. Their tasting room in the Dog Patch is perfect for those mid-day tech pencil pushers who need a quick decompress before heading back into work. Plus if you can’t make it to their showroom, the sell literally at all groceries SF wide with collaboration cans with the SF Giants and so on. // 1705 Mariposa St, Dog Patch, anchorbrewing.com
21st Amendment
In 2000, Nico Freccia and Shaun O’Sullivan founded the 21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco’s historic South Park neighborhood. The popular brewpub is now at the heart of the new city center, just south of the financial district and only two blocks from the San Francisco Giants baseball park. In addition to eight rotating taps of multiple award-winning hand-crafted house beers, the pub has been voted “Best Brewpub”, “Best Burger” and “Best Happy Hour” by many a local. Their brewing station in San Leandro is where the party is poppin’ — with a wide array of seating and all their brews and test-trials are sold and sampled. // 2010 Williams St, East Bay, 21st-amendment.com
