When: Saturday, June 2nd, starting at noon Where: Fairmont San Francisco Why: The guy who sings your grandparents’ favorite slow dance song, I Left My Heart in San Francisco, is finally getting a street named after him. Tony Bennett is unveiling his street sign at 2 P.M., but the block party will extend beyond that time. An interactive “heart salute” to Mr. Bennett will take place at 1:15. Dianne Feinstein, Willie Brown, and Nancy Pelosi are all crashing the party (and so can you!). // 950 Mason Street, admission is free.

Where: Robert Crown Memorial State Beach Park, Alameda   Why: Bring your A-game, a bucket, and a shovel to Robert Crown Memorial State Beach on Sunday, because there’s a sand castle and sand sculpture contest going down. This is a legit contest with judges, an award ceremony and some pretty rigid-looking rules. // Otis & Westline Drive, Alameda.
